Do you have a love hate relationship with money?

“Every woman's success should be an inspiration to another. We're strongest when we cheer each other on.”
– Serena Williams

Hey Reader!

Do you have a love hate relationship with money? You love to get it, but hate talking about it? Whether it’s salary negotiation convos at work or budgeting with your family, these can be difficult conversations.

The reason is because there are a lot of emotions attached to money. What it means to have it, to not have it, how you spend it, and especially how you get it. You can’t talk about money without talking about your career. After all, that’s why we’re working in the first place right? Sure, we love a challenge and sense of accomplishment, but we’re not doing it for free!

Having someone help you talk through your emotions around work and money are key as you advance in your career. Making more money won’t solve all your money problems, and not having it might keep you feeling stuck in a job you don’t like.

That’s why I partnered with Amber Stitt on her recent podcast, Focus on Money: How your EQ can map out your Money Goals for You!

What Would Jovita Do?

I’m not an expert when it comes to money. In my younger days, I racked up over $12,000 of credit card debt; and no, not on splurges and shopping. It was for basic necessities like food and rent. While that certainly is no excuse and I’m not proud to admit it, I’m grateful for the experience because it taught me how to budget and plan my career goals around my lifestyle. It may seem obvious to others, but I hadn’t clearly connected the growth in my career to the growth in the lifestyle I wanted as I got older.

Now I know better, plus have gotten help! I made a plan and got myself out of debt, rebuilt my credit, and always make sure my career goals and money goals are aligned.

Pro Tip

Don’t wait! Start understanding money better now. Make sure you’re also gaining awareness on your own money blocks and emotions.

One of my favorite female authors that help explain money in ways that I can understand is Nicole Lapin. Check her out or find someone else you love!
